Police are hunting for a man who has 3,501 foxes and a fox cage at his property in St Albans.
Police said they were called to the property at about 4.40pm on Tuesday after a neighbour called to say a fox had broken into his house.
They said he had taken a rabbit out of his yard and a kangaroo in the backyard and put the kangaroos and foxes there.
“He had three foxes, a fox house and a cage in the back yard,” Detective Superintendent David Williams said.
He said they found the cage and fox house in the garage and were looking for the man and his girlfriend.
“The fox house had been left in the open and there was an extensive area of bare wood and the roof had been cut off,” Detective Sergeant Williams said, adding that the fox house was probably not a safe place to put animals.
“We’re asking anyone with information to contact Detective Sergeant Michael Taylor.”
Police said the man was not believed to be the owner.
